You have had no easy task, especially since you have been doing

in effect double duty, in the head office by day and frequently much duty in the New Territories by night. You have frequently

been on duty, exclusive of the period used in travelling?

Mr. Taylor: I have a record here. On one occasion I was doing 72 hours

with 4 hours' sleep, but I reckon that since the immigration

control started I have been working 18 hours out of 24 with no

submission for extra time.

Mr. Forrest: The conditions under which you are working, although

exceptional even for the Inmigr:tion Office, are in keeping with

the hours worked by the staff generally? They are exceptionally

long. Very few on the staff have worked as long as you have; but

they are in keeping with the work of the Department generally, so

far as your observation goes?

That is true.

You referred to the loose slips of paper used for keeping track of

permits from their blank state to their final state inside the head

office. Do you refer to a green forma - a printed green form?

I am afraid I cannot testify on that point. so much has gone

through my head since.

That is all.
